EPMS — Ellis Partners in Mystery Shopping

EPMS is a mystery shopping company that has a good reputation among mystery shoppers. They specialize in apartment shops, which are often some of the higher paying shops available. They do have extensive reports, but most shoppers say that the extra effort is worth it for the extra pay.

One shopper did report having trouble getting paid when the person who was supposed to show him the apartment did not show up. I recommend clarifying EPMS’s policy about that before you do the assignment. Most shoppers report that they are easy to work with, reliable, and pay well. So I definitely recommend registering with them.

EPMS has been around since 1984. They have assignments all over the country. They also pay twice a month, which is nice.

Stay away from them! They don’t pay well ($25.00 a shop) if they pay at all. They will pay at first but once you start doing more, they stop paying. I did 2 shops from them in early January, 2010 and I am still awaiting payment.

Are there any companies that you do reccomend???

  3. Carole says:

I have worked for EPMS for several years, I have always been paid on time and the company is great to work for.

I have done 4 shops for EPMS and have always been paid as promised direct deposit.

  5. Caution – They will find any excuse to reject a report (but keep the results to pass on to the client). They tell you to shop a specific target on a specific day like a Saturday but if the target is never scheduled to work on Saturdays you get screwed. They tell you at 3pm one afternoon about a new shop to be completed by the next day, with a target not working the next day, and screw you if you scramble to get it done for them. Remember the movie with the class-action suit against the insurance company whose internal policy was to immediately reject every claim ? Sounds quite familiar with these guys….maybe someone should arrange something.
