How Much Money Can You Make as a Mystery Shopper? If you are dedicated and somewhat lucky, you could make thousands of dollars a month. Most mystery shoppers who simply like to get a free hamburger now and then, make less than $100 a month. With a little bit of extra effort, it’s possible to make a few hundred dollars a month. But with the right knowledge and some luck you can make a sustainable living as a mystery shopper.
What What it Takes to Make a Living as a Mystery Shopper
First, you need to be able to market yourself. Once you make you initial contacts in the mystery shopping industry, you need to show that you are serious about mystery shopping. If a company believes you are serious, they will give you more assignments and pay you more money for them.
Once you have access to a lot of assignments, be good at scheduling them around each other. On a mystery shopping day, create a schedule and a route. Group assignments together, so that you can quickly hop from one to another.
Prioritize assignments. Some just aren’t worth accepting. Often, you would have to travel too far, or they just don’t pay enough, or they are too difficult to schedule with other assignments. Remember, you don’t need to accept every mystery assignment offered to you. By picking and choosing your assignments, you can make more money in less time. If you are offered an assignment directly, though, be sure to immediately let the scheduler know if you can take it.
Don’t be Afraid to Fire your Boss!
Getting the best assignments means building relationships with schedulers, finding the top mystery shopping companies in your area, and impressing them with quick responses and accurate well written reports. Of course, that doesn’t mean you are their slaves! Many successful mystery shoppers simply don’t work for companies that treat them poorly. That’s the great thing about this industry — you can pick and choose who you work for and when you want to work for them!
Good luck with your mystery shopping. Email me if you have any questions.
