The Worst Mistake Any New Mystery Shopper Could Possibly Make

I receive a lot of emails from people getting started with mystery shopping.

A lot of the time they thank me for the help I’ve given them.

But just as often, they ask how they can get more assignments, or get better paying assignments, or get assignments at a particular store.

All of those problems are fixed by just ONE simple solution.

And that is applying to a lot of mystery shopping companies.

Here’s why:

If you apply to just one company, then you will be VERY limited in the assignments that are available to you. Odds are, they won’t have any assignments for you. And if they DO have assignments for you, you are limited to just those few assignments.

As a mystery shopper, you want the mystery shopping companies to compete for you. The only way to do that is to register with lots of them, and not just one or two.

Imagine dozens of assignments available to you instead of just one or two….Dozens of assignments to pick from means you will be able to CHOOSE higher paying assignments at stores you want to shop at, and at times that are more convenient for you.

If you work with just one company you won’t have any of those choices.

the key to FREEDOM with your mystery shopping comes from getting a big list of companies that have assignments for you.

The worst possible thing ANY mystery shopper can do, especially new mystery shoppers, is to limit yourself to just one company.

So if you want more assignments, AND better paying assignments, then apply to more companies!

There are more than 400 companies out there in the US alone. A surprising number of shoppers have applied to practically all of them.

I signed up for the gold shadowshopper (30 day)trial and I am not happy. I have not received one assignment from Shadowshopper. But I have received assignments from companies I have searched myself. I do not recommend shadowshopper.

I have not paid to sign up for Shadow Shopper but have gotten shops from them sending the name of shops and I then went into google and applied for the shops myself. I have only applied to a handful of shops and I’m working 12 shops this next to weeks. I believe just applying to different companies is the way to go.

I have been a shopper for almost 3 years now and have never paid to get a shop. I have signed up directly on the websites of many mystery shopping companies and usually get many shopping opportunities every week. Often the ones I have done shops before call me when others cancel at the last minute and they are usually the ones I like to do or I get offered a bonus.

I too have applied to a number of companies, and the choices of assignments have been many. While I have received very few from Shadow Shopper, they have been a source of companies to which I later applied, once exposed to their existence. I certainly appreciate the information shared by the Forum, and your efforts(^_^(

I have been a Mystery Shopper for six months but I am having trouble getting jobs that pay a decent price. I have tried to get demo jobs that pay better than fast food, etc.

What am I doing wrong? How can I get the good jobs?

    Thanks
