Paramount Shoppers LLC Scam Warning

Warning: If you receive a large check from “Paramount Shoppers LLC” it is fake! Do not deposit the check! Do not wire money! Do not send a moneygram! The check will bounce. You will end up owing a lot of money.

Paramount Shoppers LLC is not a real mystery shopping company. They are fake–and they are trying to steal from you. Whatever you do, do not accept any mystery shopping assignments from them.

Most assignments pay between $10-$35. If you ever get offers that pay more, it is very likely that someone is trying to scam you. If it is too good to be true, it probably is.

Fortunately, scams are very easy to avoid in the mystery shopping industry. The trick: Never accept large checks from ‘mystery shopping companies.’ Never wire any money. Follow those two rules, and you’ll be ok. Its as easy as that.

  13. Donna ring-Jordan says:

I, too got this invitation. I always check things like this out and I am glad I did. These scammers need to be stopped.

  14. Ron says:

They sent the money orders by way of ups and usps. Funny you can never contact them…..they just email you random information. Very good scam. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS VERIFY MONEY ORDERS BY CALLING THEM IN. Always be cautious with mystery shopping.

  15. Tony says:

I knew it was a scam those sons of BITCHES !!!!

  16. Stephanie says:

I recieved two money orders from them today…both money orders combined totaled to $1,980.00. I took the money orders back to the post office to let them take care of it.

  17. Jasper says:

Yes, I KNEW it was a scam. I’ve found that anytime the email asks for your name, address, phone number, etc. IN THE EMAIL, it’s a scam. Any legitimate mystery shopping company will direct you to their site to complete a profile and usually read an independent contractor agreement there.

For anyone who is truly interested in mystery shopping, you can go to the Mystery Shopping Providers Association website @mysteryshop.org.

  18. Anonymous says:

thanks i received an email from them today..

  19. Toni says:

I was invited to the fraud party also!! I respodned to them and asked if I could cash their Post Office Money orders directly at the PO. Of course they never responded to my question. Later they sent me another email with an assignment, letting me know I would receive a packet with instruction and a check! Right!! Who pays you befor you even complete the assignment. Whatch out for these folks!!

  20. JamMaster says:

I got some today when I check my email. and the email contents a Job Order. I thought it was true but then I searched the name of the company I found your post.

    Thank you.

  21. BRETT says:

I too got 2 usps money orders, each for $990. to be cashed. They say keep $350. and wire the balance to…… the Phillipines, saying the transaction is the test of their levels of service. They count on people just depositing at their bank. Went to the post office, they were “very good fakes” and left them. Also called the local police. They came, listened to my story and left, saying there was nothing they could do since it was on the internet. Is there a whiz out there who could bring these a-holes down. If they send 1,000’s and only 1% fall for it they’ll make thousands and break a lot of hearts.

  22. Vickicl says:

I got the same email today. I’m sick of scammers as well. There is a virus that hasn’t been caught for years that tries to collect money as they claim you have all these viruses on your system. I wonder how much money they have collected!

  23. Cyndi Morgan says:

I received a job offer from Paramount shoppers and googled them and saw your post about it being a scam thank you so much…

  24. Lois Newhouse says:

They almost got me too. My bank said they the money orders were good fakes, but fakes none the less. Anytime you get money orders for an unusual amount..mine were for $979.44 each, you can pretty much assume it’s a scam. They also told me that the police wouldn’t do anything. I’m with anyone who can stop these jerks. There has to be something we can do.

  25. KC says:

I also received an email and decided to do my research first.

Like many of you I was looking for an income making opportunity, something that I could do from my home in my spare time. I have found a great opportunity that I would like to share with you. You can visit my website for more details and also call me for more information.

    Regards,

    Kesia

Click my name next to the empty picture box, it will take you to my website. When I input the info. directlly in the comment section it does not allow it to post. Don’t know why. Thx

  28. Angelina says:

I am glad that i read this before i did anything with these people. I received two money oreders for $990.00 with instructions to go to Wal-Mart and then to send a Western Union to some name that they provided for me but there was no amount to be sent to the person for the Western Union which i thought was funny because they are so ver specific on everything else! Like how much you should pay yours self out of all the money that they sent you but i was like how can you just trust some one with that much money and not no if any info that they give you is real or fake. I have a friend who i call conspiracy theory because she always thinks everything is a scam but for once i have to tell her she was right.

  29. martha says:

i got 2 money orders right before christmas and took them to the post office and they said it was a scam. thye took them and sent them to the postal main office to look into. the post master said they were good fakes. almost to good to be fake. same amount 990.00 each and mail them over seas? why would you mail them over there. be ware of this scam could cost you alot of money.

  30. Linda says:

I got a money order for $900.00 and was all excited about it, but once I got my assignments I found it very suspicious that I needed to wire money over seas. I checked it out and found this. Thanks for the tip

  31. AJ says:

Being a single parent and out of work for the last 3 month. I was desprate to find a way to bring in some income. I thought this would be perfect to be a mystery shopper. When I received the money order and went to cash it at the back, the cashier let me know that it was a fake because she had been scamed by the same people. These people need to be punished. Its cruel what they are doing.

  32. Paul Knecht says:

This is a organization that is running a clinic for getting into your pocketbook bigtime.
Stay away from this corruption, or you will be sorry if you don`t. THIS IS NOT A JOB, IT`S A SCAM.

  33. Robert V. Harris says:

Huge Scam! Wished I knew where to report them!

  40. Frank says:

I am a licensed CA Private Investigator and a Retired LAPD Homicide Detective. To be able to legally do “mystry shopping”, you must have a valid Private Investigators license, or the person you are working for must have one. If not, it is a Misdemeanor Crime and you will be prosecuted in this state.

I know this because I have referred these types to the CA Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Investigative Services and they have arrested some of these individuals.

Scam or not, it is illegal… Period, unless you or this Paramount Shoppers LLC are properly licensed. Just a word to the wise.

  41. WMPSands says:

I checked the two money orders I received through the issueing bank and found them to be fraudulant. The bank referred me to the Federal Trade Commission at 877-987-3728 where I was able to file a claim. I was told to mark them void, make a copy and shred the fake originals. (Don’t really know why the copies)

These guys are goooood!! My letter came from Anthony Fitzergerald and the money orders came from a Christina M. Phelps. The money orders had been cashed on July 1, 2011 and was being reused. These idiots think we are dumb enough to ‘cash’ these things without checking!! The name on the mail sent to me was from a Mr. Bunche with a real address, city, state (probably had mailed a pkg to some one else and the label was retreived off of that pkg). Please be careful when sending or shipping items out to others – your label could be missused – but this can be avoided by asking that your label is distroyed before being trashed and vice versa. I am glad I was not gullable enough to fall for this scam. Good luck!!!

  42. B. L. Stratton says:

I used to be a Mystery Shopper and believe me, you don’t make $90 per evaluation. Too bad this is a scam. There are legitimate mystery shopping gigs around.

  43. Darlene says:

I wished I saw this sooner!!!They got me now I owe my bank $1950.00 I am so upset. Something needs to be done about these scams. Tell everyone you know and tell them to do the same.
    Lesson well learned
    Worcester MA.

  44. Donna says:

So glad I googled this before responding to the invitation I received yesterday. I can’t believe these scammers have not yet been STOPPED! Always research stuff before jumping in … that’s what I wanted to do but I’ve learned!!

  45. Miinerva Garza says:

I got one today too. As soon as I see that they are requesting your personal info a red flag goes up, because I have been scammed before and I am not willing to go through it again. How dare they do this to people who are honestly looking for work!!!!!

  46. renee says:

i received this past week a money order from them, i took it to my attorney friend and a legal document person, the attorney was assuming it could be fraud,i was told to take it to the post office , i did and the postal money order is now the hands of the fraud unit, plus i received a email from diane person wanted my adddress to mail the check out to me, so i gave her my address once i get that check i am taking it to the police, get rid of these people. i am out to get them.
