The Benefits of Mystery Shopping

I was struck by a recent post on MysteryShopForum.com.

Apparently, a woman who earns $90,000 a year in her regular job does mystery shopping in her spare time. And loves it.

But why? Because, as she says, it gives her a chance to go out and talk to people. It fulfills her need to be social. It gives her a way to deal with the stress of her real-life job.

Every mystery shopper has their own unique reason for mystery shopping.

Many people do it to earn extra cash so they can pay off credit card bills, or save money for a vacation, just plain have fun, or even to supplement their social security income.

I received an email from a lovely grandmother once. She was saving her mystery shopping money so that she could take her grand-children on a dream vacation to Disney World. That was her special reason for mystery shopping.

Why do you mystery shop?

    Thanks for asking(^_^(
I supplement my SSI, plus it keeps me active! I really like the merchandising side of mystery shopping. I am learning new skills, gaining new experiences, and inter~acting with a variety of folk. I prefer the merchandising tasks, to shopping, but I do include shops where practical, and not too complicated. I am looking long and hard towards bank, and apartment shops, which tend to pay fairly well, compared to the typical fast~food gig.
    Thx again(^_^(

I mystery shop to make extra money for gas or to keep food in my house.
My regular income does not allow me the priviledge to get gas or food because of the other bills I have to pay.So mystery shopping fills that void.

I enjoy going to places that I would not normally go and experience service I would not have usually experienced. I enjoy fine dining every once in a while and pizza deliered to my house so I don’t have to cook. Bowling with my friend allows us to see each other and spending the night in a hotel is a nice relief.

I started mystery shopping about two months after I retired thinking a little extra income would be good. I am an introvert, so wasn’t sure I would like it. SURPRISE!!! I love it. It gets me out and around people and I get some great perks – like free meals. My husband just retired and we are going to mystery shop together!

I started doing shopping to make some extra money after being out of work after having a heart attack. I needed to start back slowly and not do anything to physical. Shopping was a great oppertunity for me to make that extra money, get out of the house and also meet people. This soon became my social time. I found that I was making more money shopping that I was working full time.

I have since gone back to work but am still shopping a few times a week. I enjoy the money as well as the perks and will continue.
